Common faults and troubleshooting of power steering pump

1、 Abnormal noise when steering

•1)Cause of failure

• (1) the oil is too dirty, the filter screen is blocked or the oil level of the oil cup is low.

• (2) there is a lot of air in the power steering system.

• (3) steering pump oil is irregular oil.

• (4) the bolts at various connecting parts of the steering system are loose, resulting in steering fluid leakage, resulting in too little oil in the oil tank.

• (5) the internal components of the steering gear or pump are excessively worn, the oil seal is poor, and the internal components are bonded or damaged.

• 2) troubleshooting

• (1) check the steering gear, oil cup filter screen and steering oil, and clean the whole power steering system.

• (2) if the pump is dirty, be sure to clean the inside and outside of the booster pump and oil pipe (not with cotton gauze or other multi fiber cloth, but with a clean brush), and exhaust air to the steering system as required.

• (3) please use the special hydraulic oil for the power steering pump.

• (4) check the connecting parts of the oil pipe, tighten the connecting bolts and add oil to the specified oil level.

• (5) replace the oil pipe, power steering pump or power steering gear.

2、 Heavy steering

• 1) cause of failure

• (1) the oil is too dirty, the filter screen is blocked or the oil level of the oil cup is low.

• (2) there is a lot of air in the power steering system.

• (3) foreign matters in the steering system cause the steering pump flow control valve to be stuck.

• (4) the tire pressure is insufficient, the steering column of the pump interferes, the connection is loose, and the installation position of the pump is loose.

•(5) 油管各连接部位螺栓松动,造成转向液泄漏。

• (6) the steering gear piston cylinder is excessively worn, the oil seal is poor, and the control valve is bonded or damaged.

• 2) troubleshooting

• (1) check the steering gear, oil cup filter screen and steering oil, and clean the whole power steering system。

• (2) if the pump is dirty, be sure to clean the inside and outside of the booster pump and oil pipe (not with cotton gauze or other multi fiber cloth, but with a clean brush), and exhaust air to the steering system as required.

• (3) inflate the tire as specified and adjust the performance of the engine。

• (4) add oil to the specified oil level, and check or replace the oil cup.

• (5) check the connecting parts of the oil pipe and fasten the connecting bolts.

• (6) replace the oil pipe, power steering pump or power steering gear.

3、 When turning the direction, one side turns heavily

• 1) cause of failure

• (1) the steering gear oil seal is poorly sealed and the oil pipe connecting bolt is loose, resulting in steering fluid leakage.

• (2) the steering gear control valve is blocked or damaged, resulting in poor operation of the control valve.

• (3) there is foreign matter in the steering oil pump control valve, causing the oil pump to fail to work normally.

• (4) the tire pressure and front wheel alignment do not meet the requirements of normal driving.

• 2) troubleshooting

• (1) remove the steering gear from the vehicle, check the oil seal, oil pipe and steering gear control valve, and replace the power steering gear if necessary.

• (2) clean the oil pipe and oil pump.

• (3) check and adjust the tire pressure and front wheel alignment.

4、 Heavy steering when turning fast

• 1) cause of failure

• (1) unstable engine speed.

• (2) there is air in the steering system.

• (3) the oil level in the oil cup is too low, and there are impurities in the oil cup or system.

• (4) the front wheel alignment fails, and each steering linkage shows signs of looseness.

• (5) the steering pump control valve is blocked by foreign matters, resulting in irregular operation.

• 2) troubleshooting

• (1) adjust engine speed and acceleration performance.

• (2) exhaust the entire steering system.

• (3) check or replace the oil cup and fill the oil cup.

• (4) check and adjust the front wheel alignment, horizontal and straight tie rods, all connections and steering links, and tighten all mounting bolts.

• (5) remove and clean the whole steering system.
